Product Spotlight: Bass Boat Propellers for Yamaha Outboards
When buying a prop for a bass boat, there are a few things that you are generally after: Speed, grip, and handling. To accomplish this, usually you are going to be looking for a high rake angle and a moderate to heavy cup. The high rake angle will help lift the bow which causes less surface area of the boat to contact and be slowed down by the water. The cupping helps hold onto the water better, offering better grip, handling, and reducing ventilation.
The two props that we have had the most success with on bass boats with Yamaha outboards are both made by PowerTech Propellers based out of Shreveport, LA. For the 90 HP and 115 HP VMAX SHO motors we almost exclusively run the PowerTech PTR. On the 150 HP, 175 HP, 200 HP, 225 HP, and 250 HP VMAX SHO, we put on the PowerTech VMX. See below for details on both of these props:
PTR
